From the Vault is a collection of voice memos, recorded 2017-2018, mostly in an upstairs bedroom. The echoes of the space provide a sense of mystery and melancholy with the mostly-somber covers.
The digital download also includes several demos, dating back to 2016.
Body is a stripped back track, featuring only piano and double-tracked, intimate vocals. Recorded on tape, the lo-fi crackles and echoes leave you in an enchanting, reverberating soundscape. The more acoustic aesthetic featured here sets the tone for future Merewife releases, departing from the electronic production of Tranz and older demos.

Merewife is the musical project of Coyote Reyne. I chose not to use my own name, in the case of collaboration, where I don't want to be the sole person receiving credit for the work done. Using a bandname, like Merewife, allows for the 'lineup' to change should I ever work with anyone else.
The name was chosen as the old English word for mermaid, merewif, and with an E added to the end.
